Finance teams often struggle when their technical tools are built without considering the actual close process. At Alpine Business Consulting, we bridge this gap by focusing on the logic of the chart of accounts and data flows before touching any software. Currently, we are supporting a major partner based in Paris, helping them navigate complex data structures as they modernize their internal reporting systems. We aim to replace implementation theatre with practical, working configurations that finance professionals can actually use.
About the role As an AI Tools Associate, you will help us integrate automation and data processing tools into these finance-driven projects. This is a fully remote position where you will assist in building the technical components that make our fixed-price engagements successful. You will not be building abstract models. Instead, you will work on the ground floor of remediation projects, ensuring that automated data pipelines and reporting tools align perfectly with a client's specific accounting rules. This role is about precision and clarity, helping us deliver systems that work correctly from the first day they go live.
What you will do
Assist in the configuration of data mapping rules to ensure consistency between source systems and financial reports.
Draft clear technical documentation and administrator guides to help clients become self-sufficient after a project ends.
Participate in the remediation of broken data flows by identifying where configurations deviate from the required finance logic.
Maintain the data dictionary for specific client projects, ensuring every term is clearly defined and consistently used across all reports.
Build and test basic automation scripts that handle repetitive data cleanup tasks within our analytics workflows.
Support the team during the month-end close cycle by monitoring system performance and validating data accuracy for our clients.
Prepare training materials for client finance teams, focusing on how to maintain and update the systems we implement.
What we are looking for
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, specifically for data manipulation, logical modeling, and complex formulas.
A basic understanding of SQL for querying databases and moving data between different technical environments.
Familiarity with the fundamental concepts of accounting, such as the general ledger, consolidation, and the chart of accounts.
A mindset focused on technical precision and a natural eye for spotting inconsistencies in large datasets.
The ability to write clearly for a professional audience, favoring plain language over corporate jargon.
Interest in how technology can solve specific, practical problems for business users in regulated industries.
Comfort working in a fully remote environment where clear, written communication is the primary way we stay aligned.
Bonus points
Prior exposure to Power BI or similar visualization tools through university coursework or personal projects.
Familiarity with the basic architecture of platforms like Oracle EPM, SAP BPC, or Snowflake.
Previous experience in a role or internship that required managing data integrity or financial record-keeping.
What we offer
A fully remote work environment that prioritizes output and quality over hours spent at a desk.
Direct mentorship from senior consultants with decades of experience in EPM and finance systems.
Exposure to complex projects for major international clients, including our current engagement with our partner in Paris.
A predictable workload focused on fixed-price projects rather than open-ended or high-stress billing cycles.
Professional development in specialized platforms that are highly valued in the enterprise finance and consulting sectors.
A culture that values direct communication, technical honesty, and the elimination of unnecessary corporate theatre.
The position is paid, and the pay is attractive and competitive for the entry-level consulting market.
Our finance-first approach ensures that we never lose sight of the people using the tools we build. We believe that a project is only successful when the client no longer needs our constant intervention. By focusing on configuration accuracy and thorough administrator training, we leave behind systems that are robust and easy for finance teams to manage themselves. This commitment to self-sufficiency and technical precision is what defines Alpine Business Consulting.
